Here's a break down of all the current announcements and rumours of Apple products to be released this year. We've got our nose to the ground hunting for the slightest whiff of new Apple products. Here's what we've uncovered:
March: 'Peek Performance' Event
In March this year, Apple held a 'Peek Performance' event where we saw the first glimpses of the first products to be released this year.
For iPhones, the third generation was introduced: the iPhone SE that comes equipped with 5G and an A15 chip.
iPad enthusiasts can be excited for the 5th generation iPad Air complete with an M1 chip and 5G.
Apple have even announced a Mac mini/Mac Pro hybrid called the Mac Studio with a high-end M1 Ultra chip, as well as the new Studio Display that sports an impressive 27 inch 5K display.
May/June
Apple holds the Worldwide Developers Conference every June. The most exciting part being the keynote on June 6th. This is the time that Apple unveils their new next-generation software due for release in the Autumn. So what might we be able to expect in June?
Mac Pro
The newest version of the Mac Pro could feature an Apple silicon chip with up to 40 compute cores and 128i graphics cores; this could double the performance of the M1 Ultra.
Mac mini
This new version of the Mac mini will feature additional ports and a more powerful Apple silicon chip. There are rumours this may be released around June time, but there's no confirmation on this.
September
iPhone 14
There could be up to four iPhone models sin 2022, including the 6.1 inch iPhone 14 all the way up to the 6.7 inch iPhone Pro Max.
The iPhone 14 Pro models may feature such things as a titanium frame for the Pro models, camera improvement and general faster performance with improved chips and a 5G modem.
Apple Watch
Series 8 is the next for Apple Watch, and there is speculation that this new version could include heath features such as temperature sensing and even sleep apnoea detection. There are even rumours of features such as blood glucose monitoring and blood pressure measurements.
Autumn and Winter
MacBook Air
Macbooks are getting even thinner - if you can even believe that - and they will have thinner bezels than the current model. The machine will feature a mini-LED display, MagSafe charging technology and USB-C ports for connecting external devices. Allegedly there will not be an HDMI port or an SD card slot.
iPad Pro
Late 2022 could see a new version of the iPad Pro, with the 11 inch model including the same-LED display introduced in the 2021 12.9 inch iPad Pro.
13 inch Macbook Pro
Macbook Pros that could use the next-generation M2 chip with 8-core CPU and 9 or 10-core GPU. There is no release date for now, but given previous knowledge that the M2 chip likely won't be coming out until the autumn, we may see it around then.
Airpods Pro
Apple is working on a new version of the Airpods Pro with even more of a compact design and a wireless chip. This may mean we may see the end of the Airpod stem more akin to the Google and Samsung style of earbuds.
The Future
- Low cost iPad
- Larger iMac
- 14 and 16 inch Macbook Pro
- AR/VR Headset
And even further...
- Foldable iPhone
- Apple Car
It's all very exciting! Which product is the one you're looking forward to the most?
